Sculptor Chaim Gross was born in 1902 in Kolomyya, Ukraine. he attended the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design and Art Students League of New York. He has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the National Collection of Fine Arts, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC (1974); The Jewish Museum, New York, NY (1977); Jewish Community Museum, San Francisco, CA (1989); and the Arkansas Arts Center, Little Rock, AK (2006). He has also participated in various group exhibitions, including Artists for Victory, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY (1942); Four American Expressionists, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY (1959); and Intimations of Immorality: The Sculptures of Chaim and Mimi Gross, B'nai B'rith Klutznick National Jewish Museum, Washington, DC (1991). Gross died in 1991 in Manhattan, NY.
