Artist Details
Carsten Höller was born in 1961 in Brussels, Belgium. He graduated in 1988 from the University of Kiel. He has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including at the Sprengel Museum, Hannover, Germany (1997); Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, The Netherlands (2002); Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb, Croatia (2009); Mu.Zee, Ostend, Belgium (2016); and Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, Lisbon, Portugal (2021). He has also participated in many group exhibitions, including Cloaca Maxima, Museum für Stadtentwässerung, Zürich, Switzerland (1994); Ecstasy: In and About Altered States, Musuem of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA (2005); The Supersurrealism, Moderna Museet, Malmö, Sweden (2012); and Ecstasy, Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Germany (2018). Höller currently lives and works between Biriwa, Ghana and Stockholm, Sweden.
