Carlos Amorales was born in 1970 in Mexico City, Mexico. He graduated from Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1995 and in 19997 from Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions, including Carlos Amorales, Project Room, Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Mexico City, Mexico (1999); The Man Who Did All Things Forbidden, Cine Nilo, Santiago, Chile, and Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, PA (2014); Carlos Amorales — The Factory, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (2019); and Words of Mouth and Hands, kurimanzutto, New York, NY (2023). He has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Let’s Entertain, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN (2000); Propia visión/Our Vision, Queens Museum of Art, New York, NY (2006); La Ciudad de México en el Arte. Travesía de Ocho Siglos, Museo de la de la Ciudad de Mexico, Mexico City, Mexico (2017); and El origen del mundo, Instituto de Visión, Bogotá, Colombia (2021). Amorales currently lives and works in Mexico City, Mexico.
