Carla Bengston received her BFA from Tyler School of Art in Jenkintown, PA and her MFA from Yale University in New Haven, CT. She has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including Spilling Over Falling Out, California State University Stanislaus, Turlow, CA (2015) and The Portland 2016 Biennial, Disjecta Contemporary Art Center, Portland, OR (2016). Bengston has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Ana 28, Holter Museum of Art, Helena, MT (1999); Eye Contact, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, Eugene, OR (2006); and The Land Mark Show, Center for Contemporary Arts, Santa Fe, NM (2016). She is currently a Professor of Art at University of Oregon.

From Florentine architecture and Mannerist painting to Hollywood film, Japanese anime, and the impossible bodies of video game fantasy, Julien Nguyen builds hybrid histories to pose contemporary queries.
