Benni Efrat was born in 1936 in Beirut, Lebanon. He studied at Avni Institute of Art and Design in Tel Aviv, Israel and St. Martin's School of Art in London, UK. Efrat has been the subject of many solo exhbitions, including at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (1974); Museum of Contemporary Art, Antwerp, Belgium (1987); Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv, Israel (1999); and Haifa Museum of Art, Haifa, Israel (2016). He has also participated in several group exhibitions, including Journees Interdisciplinares et Performances, The Centre Pompidou, Paris, France (1979); Grid Images in Israeli Art, The Art Gallery, University of Haifa, Haifa, Israel (2002); Ararat Express, Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, Herzliya, Israel (2009); and Other Primary Structures, The Jewish Museum, New York, NY (2014).
