Barbara Crawford received her BS in Clothing and Textiles from Oklahoma State University in 1969; her BFA in Painting from James Madison University in 1974; and an MA from Vermont College in 1993. Crawford has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at University of South Carolina, Lancaster, SC (1994); Etherredge Arts Center, University of South Carolina, Aiken, SC (2004); Olin Museum, Salem, VA (2008); and Riverview Art Center, Lynchburg, VA (2012). She has also participated in several group exhibitions, including A Sense of Place, Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, Augusta, GA (2004); and Through the Looking Glass, Glen Allen Cultural Arts Center, Richmond, VA (2006). Crawford is currently a professor of Art and Art History at Southern Virginia University.
