Biography

Designer and architect Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto, professionally known as Alvar Aalto, was born in 1898 in Kuortane, Finland. He received a degree in 1921 from Helsinki Institute of Technology, Helsinki, Finland. His architectural projects include Alvar Aalto Library, Vyborg, Russia (1935); Muuratsalo Experimental House, Jyväskylä, Finland (1954); Maison Louise Carré, Bazoches-sur-Guyonne, France (1963); and Riola Church and Parish Centre, Riola di Virgato, Italy (1980).

Aalto died in 1976 in Helsinki, Finland.
