Allora & Calzadilla is an artistic duo formed in 1995 between Jennifer Allora (b. 1974, Philadelphia, PA) and Guillermo Calzadilla (b. 1971, Havana, Cuba). Allora received a BA from the University of Richmond, Richmond, Virginia in1996 and an MS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA in 2003. Calzadilla received a BFA from Escuela de Artes Plásticas, San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1996 and an MFA from Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY in 2001.
Allora & Calzadilla have been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including Land Mark, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, France (2006); Intervals, Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia, PA (2014); and The Tropical Pharmacy, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Bilbao, Spain (2019). They have also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Globalización: indicaciones / Efectos Secundarios / Advertencias, Espacio 1414, Santurce, Puerto Rico (2006); Animalia, Marian Goodman Gallery, London, UK (2016); and The Coming World: Ecology as the New Politics 2030-2100, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow, Russia (2019).
Allora & Calzadilla live and work in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
