Biography

Alice Aycock was born in 1946 in Harrisburg, PA. She received a BA from Douglass College, New Brunswick, NJ and an MA from Hunter College, New York, NY. Aycock has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including Studies For A Town, Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (1977); Waltzing Matilda, Guild Hall Museum, East Hampton, NY (1997); and Alice Aycock: Selected Works 1971-2019, Sprengel Museum, Hannover, Germany (2019). She has also participated in several group exhibitions, including 26 Contemporary Women Artists, Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield, CT (1971); Art at the End of the 20th..., Whitney Museum, New York, NY (1996); Abstraction for Everyday Life, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, La Jolla, CA (2009); and Dream Monuments: Drawing in the 1960s and 1970s, Menil Drawing Institute, Houston, TX (2021). Aycock lives and works in New York, NY.
