Casey Millard’s Shark Girl is having one of those days. In the morning she makes an important decision. Instead of getting on the bus, she follows her foul mood on an epic journey. At the end of the day, she finds herself deep in a lonely cave and even sadder than she was that morning. Shark Girl learns that running away from a problem isn’t the answer. She realizes that even though we might want to hide from our bad day, we are better off facing it.

Some mornings you wake up in a bad mood. It feels like your day is doomed, like there is a big, dark cloud hanging over your head. You might be tempted to hide under the covers and ignore your responsibilities that day. You might even believe that the cloud will go away if you can just run far enough.

Shark Girl asks:

What can you do on a day when you wake up with the gloomy cloud over your head?

Have you ever tried to hide from your bad mood?

What happened?
