This exhibition featured modern paintings from many countries to commemorate the 400th anniversary of el Greco (Expressionism). “In this exhibition, the Cincinnati Modern Arts Society hopes to render a long needed service. By showing together a group of paintings united only by the warm, personal spirit in which they are painted, we hope to make clear that nationality and chronology have little to do with art” (Peggy Frank, Expressionism, 2).
