Composer and producer Ryan Lott has steadily built a reputation under the alias Son Lux. He has released three acclaimed records of baroque pop, collaborated with Sufjan Steven and Serengeti on Sisyphus, and worked with Lorde on a new version of his song "Easy." Now, Son Lux has grown to include guitarist Rafiq Bhatia and drummer Ian Chang. Released in June 2015, "Bones" is the first album documenting this new formation, drawing from the three members' unique musical vernaculars.
Dawn of Midi opens the night, returning to the CAC after their enthusiastically-received 2014 debut alongside Nils Frahm. The Brooklyn-based acoustic ensemble utilize sophisticated rhythmic structures from North and West African folk traditions to create minimal dance music using only piano, acoustic bass, and drums.
