Artist Details
Painter, printmaker, and sculptor Max Ernst was born in 1891 in Brühl, Germany. He attended Bonn University in Bonn, Germany. Ernst has been the subject of many solo exhibitions, including at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (1961); Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY; Musée National d’Art Moderne, Paris, France (both 1975); Kunsthalle, Luckenwalde, Germany (2002); and Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Denmark (2008). Ernst died in 1976 in Paris, France.
