What is 44?
44 is a monthly "open house" series where the CAC showcases local talent for public enjoyment, free in the Kaplan Hall Lobby.  It offers artists of all media an accessible stage to present their craft to a wide and diverse audience, and it offers the community exposure to the variety of creative endeavors being incubated and honed in their backyard.

44 was conceived to give those who live, work and play downtown a new way to integrate art into their daily lives.  The 44 presentations have a short time duration, are free and open to all, and patrons are welcome to walk in and out.  Perfect for a mid-afternoon break!

44 provides an easy and informal gathering space for people to support local artists.  The remarkable glass-walled venue provides a streetlevel dialogue with all who walk by.  Everyone is encouraged to stop in, or just pause on the sidewalk for a moment to enjoy the view inside.  Once you do, you'll be amazed at the variety and level of talent that resides in our community.

Who is invited to perform?
Artists seeking local, national and international brand affiliation with the CAC: poets, musicians, dancers, singers, actors, playwrights, visual artists, performance artists, or anyone with a great idea and strong talent.

Established artists seeking to experiment with new concepts in front of a diverse and enthusiastic audience.

Emerging artists seeking a central venue to showcase their talent.

What is the cost?  Do artists receive a stipend?
44 is a program where the CAC joins forces with the community to present art to the public in an accessible way.  For this reason, no monetary exchange takes place, either for the arts performed/exhibited or for the support services/facility use. The program is free to the public.

The CAC provides significant logistical and promotional resources, including professional marketing and public relations support, for the artists and the presentations.

How do I get involved?
Artists can send an email to 44at44@contemporaryartscenter.org with their name, contact information, background and a link to examples of their work.  Submissions will be reviewed by the CAC and selected artists will be contacted to schedule performances.
